WIP Wednesday: #AmWriting Like Crazy!

This has been a crazy year so far. I’m really glad I went back to my old style of writing where I work on more than one project at a time. It really works for me.

I’ve got three projects going on at any one time now. I’ve committed myself to writing one short story a month. If it’s not for a specific publication, I’ll release it on its own. Then when I have enough of them, I’ll release them as an anthology for those who prefer bigger books as opposed to smaller ones.

The first one is going to be released the 15th of March. I’m in the process of editing it now, so it should be done in plenty of time. I can’t wait for that. I’ll post a sneak peek of that story this coming Saturday, so keep an eye out for that.

Of course, there’s Shadow Stalker, and I’ve been doing some writing for that as well. Episode 19 is due to be released the 5th of April. I really think people will love Part 4. There are going to be a lot of surprises. 😉

And finally I’m still in the planning stages with my first book in the A God’s Deception series, but I’m almost ready to start outlining the book. I expect I should be finished writing by the end of April and then I can start the editing. Of course, this one I’ll be submitting to Crimson Edge and hopefully publishing with them, so I can’t give a projected release date at this point. But I’m going to hope for the end of the year on that one.

It feels great to be writing more regularly again and actually getting stuff done. And I think I enjoy having something to publish more often too. Between the short stories and Shadow Stalker episodes, I should have something new each month. Sometimes even twice a month. So it’s really exciting.

Oh, and I should also mention, with the short stories, I’ll be experimenting with other genres. They’ll all pretty much be in the horror/thriller/paranormal/dark fantasy category because that’s what I tend to write, but if you have a suggestion or a challenge for me to write in a completely different genre (just for the fun of it) leave a comment below or contact me! I’d love to hear from you.

Until next time… happy reading!

Works In Progress: New Exciting Projects Coming!

Works-in-ProgressI’m nearly done with Episode 17 of my Shadow Stalker serial, and I’m planning to have Episode 18 completed before the end of the month. Good thing too since the Shadow Stalker Part 3 (Episodes 13 – 18) bundle is already up for pre-order. It’s half price during the pre-order too, so this is the best time to reserve your copy! Also, if you’d like a free copy of Episode 17, sign up below. Newsletter subscribers get free copies of each episode when they are released.

Once Part 3 is all edited and ready to go, I’ll be spending the rest of the year working on Part 4. I hope to have the entire thing completed by the new year, so I can work on my new novel series, A God’s Deception, as well as some other projects. I want to write a series about the first Galvadi war, and I’m also working on a paranormal thriller series I plan to release under a pen name (more on that soon).

Part 4 will be released throughout 2017 with the final Shadow Stalker bundle being released in November 2017. Then I’ll be starting my new serial about the origins of the shadow stalkers. I’m really excited about that one. I’ve been coming up with some really great ideas for it, and I can wait to get it started! 😀

Writing While Sick

I included this infographic to raise awareness about autoimmune diseases. Many people go years before being diagnosed, so it's good to know the symptoms.

Note: I included this infographic to raise awareness about autoimmune diseases. Many people go years before being diagnosed, so it’s good to know the symptoms.

I have been quite sick for the last couple of months, between a reoccurring flu, bronchitis an symptoms stemming from Hashimoto’s. So I wanted to share how I’ve been coping with that and still managing to keep writing, even though I haven’t come close to keeping to my writing goals.

For a while, I was getting stressed out because I wanted to be so much further along at this point than I am. I should have Episode 17 of my Shadow Stalker serial being edited, the short story I was working on should have been submitted to Crimson Edge (which isn’t going to happen now), and I should have been editing the manuscript of the first book in my new series, A God’s Deception.

As it is, I’m still trying to finish Episode 16, and it was due out today. I haven’t even started Episode 17. The short story is on hold now until I can get caught up with my Shadow Stalker episodes. I’m planning to release it as a bonus to my newsletter subscribers since I’m too late for submission in the anthology. And aside from some basic series planning, I haven’t even started my novel.

Then I realized, as long as I’m moving forward, it doesn’t matter if I’m meeting goals. I have medical and other real life issues that sometimes get in the way of my writing. It can’t be avoided, so there’s no use feeling bad or punishing myself when I can’t meet deadlines. All that does is make it worse and cause me to not want to bother trying at all.

So instead, I’m focusing on just doing something every day until I’m feeling better. Even if all I write is one sentence, it’s still more than I had yesterday, and eventually it will get done. These “bad times” don’t last forever, and when I’m well I write like a fiend, so that definitely makes up for it.

Are you a writer who suffers with an autoimmune disease? I’d love to hear about how you get through the rough times.
