Nightmarish Move From Hell

scanner-fear-3-1251133-638x452I think this has had to have been my most stressful move in my history of moving, and the sad part is we only moved right next door!

It started out pretty well. We paid for an extra week at the old place so we can gradually move our stuff over, and we were right on schedule to have everything out and the place cleaned up. Then I got food poisoning from a Chinese place near here. I could barely do anything for days, so we fell behind. On the last day we ended up being there until 3am just trying to get the place cleaned up. It was a nightmare.

Then to make matters worse, our internet company tried telling us they couldn’t connect our internet because there were no available ports. We were simply transferring our account to the new house. We had a port at the old house… so we couldn’t understand what the problem was. After a week of dealing with that, we finally decided to move to a different company, and lo and behold, we have internet… finally!

Now I have so much to catch up on. I’m just glad I thought to schedule the author spotlights well in advance. I only missed one that was due to be published yesterday so I can just get that set up today and I’ll be on track.

Oh, and because it took so long to get the internet reconnected, I had to reschedule the release for Shadow Stalker Part 3. It will now be released on the 14th of December. Sorry for any inconvenience, especially to those who have pre-ordered. I suppose on the plus side, it will be available at the special $1.99 price for longer. It will go to the regular $3.99 price after the release.

Has anyone else ever experienced a nightmarish move? Tell me about it!

Ladybugs and Werecats

ladybugMy fascination with Shapeshifters started at a young age. When I was eight years old I turned into a ladybug. I imagined what it would be like to live inside such a tiny spotty frame, how it would feel to contract and to fly. I wrote the story and sent it off to the Puffin Post and a few months later was thrilled to find my name in the magazine with a mention for my ladybug story.

And so it began. Shifter stories have always held power for me. Maybe because it seems like the perfect escape, perfect way to hide and while it was fun to get inside the head of that ladybug, in truth that would not be such a useful form to choose. Too easy to get squished. No, if I were to choose a form it would have to be a cat – my favorite animal and one that is oh so versatile. A cat shifter can blend into the shadows.

In the P.A.W.S. universe there are three kinds of cat shifters (so far). Shapeshifters like Miri and her grandparents received their magic from charms of silver that were passed on through the generations. Animagi, like Danny and Lilith, choose cat forms for their versatility and adaptability, and sometimes their sharp teeth and claws. And then there are the werecats.

griddlebonebannertake3

The first werecat was Griddlebone. He was created by a Nazi scientist as a weapon, but cats don’t like to be controlled and Griddlebone escaped and joined forces with the resistance and a whole new community of werecats were born. We first meet Griddlebone in his origin story in Sins of the Past, but will delve deeper into his character and the community he created in Umbrae (P.A.W.S. 3). All being well this should be out in early 2017.

I hope you’ll all come along for the journey – and like Griddlebone is fond of saying remember to Never Underestimate a Cat!

Weekly Fantasy Fix: Winter in Here…Beware Winter!

Weekly Fantasy Fix

Most of you are probably saying, “Wait a minute! It’s not winter!” But it definitely is here in the downunder, and with it comes the winter illnesses. I’m usually smart enough to get my flu shot since I have a weakened immune system. It doesn’t keep me completely healthy, but I don’t get as sick for as long. This year I was silly and forgot, and so far I’ve had the flu three times, bronchitis twice and a head cold. I’m just now starting to get over my worst case of bronchitis I can ever remember having.

So what’s the point of me telling you all this?

Don’t be silly like me, and certainly don’t mess with your health! When it really comes down to it, it’s the most important thing in your life. Without good health, how can you possibly live a productive and happy life?

So now I have good news and bad news. I’ll give you the bad news first, so it won’t seem so bad once I give you the good news. 😀

The bad news is, in my feverish stupor, I failed to finish Episode 16 of myShadow Stalker serial. In fact, I only realized yesterday that it was Friday. I thought I still had a week! Nothing worse than waking up one day and realizing a week went by and you missed the whole thing…again my fault…should have gotten that flu shot!

Ready for the good news? Go read my Works in Progress!

Also below is a sneak peek from one of the chapters I wrote this week. Hope you enjoy it!
