#ISWG: A Look Back!

For those who don’t know, the Insecure Writers Support Group is open to all writers to share their fears, doubts, and concerns, as well as your triumphs. So if you have something to share, visit the link at the end of this post!

First, I have to say that I didn’t finish NaNoWriMo this year. I was really sick for nearly two weeks and couldn’t get any writing done, but I did write over 32k words, so that’s pretty awesome, I think. It’s more writing than I’ve done in months. I’m not sure how much more writing I’ll get done in December since Christmas is coming up and my daughter will be out of school after this week, but I intend to keep my 2500 word daily goal. This way I’ll be guaranteed to write at least that much on the days I do have time to write.

Also, on a random note, I’m soooooooooooooo excited to see the new Star Wars movie this month! The wait has been driving me nuts! There are just certain questions I need answered… of course, I know this one will likely leave me with more questions, which will result in another agonizing 2-year wait, but for a moment, my curiosity will be satisfied.

Now for this month’s question:

As you look back on 2017, with all its successes/failures, if you could backtrack, what would you do differently?

I honestly can’t think of anything I’d do differently. The one thing I would like to change was really out of my control anyway. Finding BeemGee and discovering a new way to plan my stories that fits with my style of writing was amazing. I wish I’d had that at the start of the year, but BeemGee is fairly new.

At least I’ll have a good writing start to the new year! I can’t wait! What are you excited about in the new year?

Co-hosts for this month are Julie Flanders,Shannon Lawrence, Fundy Blue, and Heather Gardner!

You hit a great number of words, even being sick! Keep it going.
I’m a big Star Wars fan, but I’m having trouble connecting to these new films. I miss Han. 🙁
    Best wishes!
    Thank you for participating!

Thanks for stopping by, Heather. I’m actually loving the new ones. The biggest part of it probably has to do with the fact that I hated the direction the novels had taken, and I feel like the story has been redeemed. 😀

32k words is truly awesome. Believe it. 😉 And the fact that it’s the most writing you’ve done in months is something to celebrate. Way to go!

I’m looking forward to the new Star Wars movie, too. 🙂

      Thanks! 😀 I promise… no spoilers! Hehe..

My birthday was Nov. 30th and I was told I was being taken to see the movie on its 15th release date as present so looking for to that. Addicted to Star Wars, lol. R2D2 & BB8 real robots sit on my computer desk. Oh and Boba Fett Clock and Yoda coffee cup, too. It helps my MUSE.

I wish we could go on the release date. 🙁 It’s just a few days away. We’ll probably be going on Boxing Day, which is a Tuesday this year, so it works out… we can get in cheaper than normal. 😀

We’ve got tons of SW stuff too. I even had my house keys made with SW themed keys and a BB8 keychain. LOL My “Force Awakens” cup broke though… I’m sad. I need to get a new one.

Hey, 32K words is great, especially if you lost half the month! I wish I could be even remotely that productive.

I can’t believe the new Star Wars movie is less than two weeks ago. I also can’t believe that with everything going on at home, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to get out to see it (certainly not on the opening weekend). My 15-year-old self is so angry with me right now.

I miss being that productive already. We’re nearly half-way into December and I haven’t written anything. 🙁 Things are crazy with getting ready for Christmas though, so once all that’s done, I’m planning a writing spree.

Yeah, I’m disappointed we can’t see SW on opening day. We usually do! It’s been a rule of mine… gotta see them on opening day. Can’t afford it this year though. We’ll be pushing to see it after Christmas, but I’m not missing it like I missed Rogue One last year. 😀

  5. 6 December, 2017

Hi Renee! I didn’t finish Nano either this year. Last year, yes. This year, I’m still waiting on interviews to come in so I can finish plotting, but I’m hopeful December will be a big writing month (and Jan and Feb) 🙂

I was hoping to get a lot of writing done this month as well, but it’s just not happening. Too much cleaning to do to get ready for Christmas!
