“Kado is living just outside of Appolia City with the delohi-saqu,” I told my father. “I need surveillance equipment to find his exact location, but I am close, Sire.”
“Good. You will have it.”
“I’ve also learned Kado is acting as a liaison between the Coalition and the Dark Isle. Is it possible the Council of Elders is betraying you?”
Drevin gave me a sharp look. “They wouldn’t dare. Whoever is communicating with Kado must be stopped. I don’t care how you do it. This takes priority. If it is one of the elders, kill him. I will not tolerate betrayal. As soon as the delohi-saqu is captured, I will begin our mission of retaking the Serpent Isles and re-establishing my rightful rule. I do not want the shadow stalkers aiding the Coalition this time.”
“Yes, Sire, but why will it matter once the delohi-saqu is out of the picture? Won’t it be easier just to kill all the shadow stalkers?” I asked, forgetting I was also a shadow stalker for the moment. I hoped my father wouldn’t count me as one of the enemy.
Drevin backhanded me.
